Years ago, far in Charente, a mad scientist created the SLEEPPERS during an experiment melting black magic and scientific research. A parkinsonian drummer, an epileptic bass player and a feedback addict guitarist. The melting of these three molecules gave birth to a precipitation which musical waves recalls the real sense of the word SATURATION. You could found them playing on stage with such friends like "Portobello Bones", "Kepone", "Nomeansno", "Unsane" or "Neurosis"... In 2001, with a brand new album and an added guitar player who will follow the band in its further sound travels, you could see that the guys from Bordeaux did not add water in their wine. They are real slayers of "bio-culture" noise, hungry for db's. The Sleeppers are still in a hurry with noise experiment. They darkened their vocals and guitars, trying to get married furia and melody. Concentrated effervescent apocalypse.

S.H. Fernando Jr. a.k.a. "Skiz"
Skiz Fernando strikes a singular figure in the music industry. After graduating from Harvard and the Columbia University School of Journalism, he began his career as a music journalist for The Source magazine. He parlayed his knowledge and expertise in the field of hip-hop into the critically-acclaimed book, The New Beats: Exploring the Music, Culture & Attitudes of Hip-Hop (Anchor/Doubleday, 1994), which has become an important document of the culture behind rap music.
After becoming familiar with the music industry through his work on the book, he borrowed $1000 from a friend, producer Bill Laswell, and started his own label, WordSound Recordings, in December 1994. A long time club and radio deejay, Fernando had by this time become deeply involved in music production, and the purpose of the label was to create an independent outlet for the music he and his friends were making. Over the last five years WordSound has released 35 full-length albums, running the gamut from dub and hip-hop to electronic and Middle Eastern music. WordSound is distributed in the U.S. by Caroline and in Europe by EFA with various licensing deals in Japan, Austrailia/New Zealand, and South America.
WordSound has created a very close-knit and creative community worldwide collaborating with such artists as Bill Laswell, Prince Paul, DJ Vadim, Kevin Martin, Mick Harris, Style Scott (Dub Syndicate), Scott Harding (New Kingdom), Umar Bin Hassan (Last Poets), DJ Rob Swift (X-ecutioners), and the Jungle Brothers, to name a few.
Last year, Fernando started another label, Black Hoodz, dedicated solely to vinyl releases. He runs both Hoodz and WordSound, single-handedly, from the WordSound compound in Brooklyn. In his spare time, he creates music under such pseudonyms as Spectre, The Ill Saint, Slotek, Special Dark, The Eye, The Mystic, and The High Priest.
His byline has also appeared in such publications as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Vibe.

The two Saint-Etienne's BRAIN DAMAGE guys are giving their "ambient emodub" the possibility to seduce a still growing following of fans, amateurs of electronic musics and infra-bass, with their several appreciated shows in France.
Due to the BANGARANG label, they have already realised two excellent albums which are the basis of their permanent guest for sound perfection.
With their label's releases, BRAIN DAMAGE have had the chance to collaborate with such respected dub artists like ZION TRAIN, THE DISCIPLES, ALPHA & OMEGA or SPECTRE)

It's hard to discribe PIGZWILLTOAST's music. Various and dizzy songs always on a straight rope. A high energy and personal mixe coloured by exotic samples and funny horns pavered by 4 vocals sailing with humour in an adult cartoon world.
Born in 1998, the band quickly sel-produced a 5 songs cd "help us find a home" promoted by an European tour (France, CZ, Austria, Belgium...). Their meeting with Guillaume from "les 7 pilliers" label gave birth to "the last Dance" album, recorded in 2000 with Eric Rageys (sound engineer for Condense, Prohibition or Bastard). The band find then much more personal way to express. Good chronicles lead them to play with bands like The Ex, the IN Conspiracy, Chokebore, Portobello Bones or Voodoo Muzak. They also played in Mostar Intercultural Festival (BH) in summer 2000.

Our "chaophonic" scene welcomes the infernal duet... without a doubt this will be the occasion to get things straight.
This couple out of Nancy is back to haunt our nights with their chaotic fuzz and will "parkinson" our bodies with their "ambiant-mental-dance" rhythm. You have an appointment with emergency and disorder due to the soundtrack of a (not always) imaginary picture. Looped and relentless beats, distorted guitars, grinded and stammered vocals. Here is chaophony made words, sound and flesh...
The night may begin....radically chaotic.

"I think everyone is trying to find a sound that cannot be categorized. That's the intention of every serious musicians. But what you definitely can't say is that you're going to just do it. I think it comes by accident - maybe you're lucky in finding a new sound maybe you're not. The intention was to find one, but I was not sure I would be able to find one. Now I am happy I did."

For Stefan Betke, luck came in the form of a Waldorf Pole Filter. Initially a gift, the instrument accidently fell on the ground and when Betke switched it on it produced dark, off-key creaking noises. Betke then had the idea to play with the filter's level and pitch to include this dysfunctional music into his work.1, 2, 3, let's make techno dizzy! With an emphasis on layers and a quasi absence of the otherwise ubiquitous beat, Pole's music is often coined as novo-dub, a new genre of reggae music, meshing the DIY ethics of Dub with the abstract power of techno. The result is a music that is both poignant and alien. If the "less is more" approach is one that is shared by many musicians today - Maurizio and Plastikman being the most examplary - Pole's sound is unique in the way it fiddles with your senses and finally takes you over.
